Last weekend I announced the arrival of our Mathieu's daughter:

There's a brand-new Lowlander! Our Mathieu -- yes, *the* Mathieu van Woerkom
of Lowlands-L renown (mathieuvw at gmail.com) -- has turned into a first-time
dad!

Congratulations to our Mathieu and his wife Anneke on the arrival of their
long-awaited Maartje!

And what a splendid, handsome little bundle she is! Take a look at her own

In the meantime, Dad's been busy documenting everything ... of course. Also,
a couple of you kindly left messages in the guest book. Our Marlou is the
only one that used a language other than Dutch, namely Low Saxon.

True, the website and the instructions are in Dutch, but I assume that
messages in languages other than Dutch are welcome. In fact, I think it
would be great if you left messages in other languages as well, not
necessarily Lowlands ones either. Here we have an opportunity to
indoctrinate this young Lowlander lady into the Friends of Language
Diversity Faith. In a few years' time she'll ask her parents things like
(the equivalent of) "What's this?" "Oh, that's a message to you in (X)."
"What's that? X?" and so the conversation begins. ("X" stands for any
language.)

So, folks, let me guide you if you don't read Dutch:

         smileys (Open in a new window)
         - *Smileys uitzetten* = Turn off smileys
         - *Dit bericht is privé* = This message is private
         - * Neem bovenstaande beveiligingscode over* = Copy the
         above protection code
         - *Reactie verzenden* = Send off reaction (= message)

For those that are new to Lowlands-L and for the older hands that need a
reminder, I should add that Mathieu van Woerkom, a Limburger now living in
Zeeland, a truly nice and giving guy, has done tons and tons of work for us,
has jumped in for me in my absence (as has Sandy Fleming) and has set up our
main website and the basics of the Anniversary website (and I have based
further web presentations on Mathieu's blueprint). I've been following the
various events in our Mathieu's life during the last few years, and I for
one couldn't be happier for him and more grateful to him.

In case you wonder and don't read Dutch, here's the phrase at the top of
each page:

*Onze liefde heeft handjes and voetjes gekregen ...*

which means something like this:

"Our love has grown little hands and feet."

Come on now! Everyone smile and say, "Awh"!!!
