Hi Ron, quite a lot of cassis you have going there. According to my
grandmother “aalbessen” was the exclusive name for what they call here “red
currants” You cleaned them by detaching them from their stems with a fork.
Yum!!! They are very rare here in the Pacific Northwest. Greetings

Right, Jacqueline, to say nothing about expensive when you do find them. We
had them every summer when I was a kid, also black and "white" (clear) ones.
