Mien Vader see an Ültjes alltied „Jödennöten“. He hett mi dat aber anners
verklaart, as ten Doornkaat-Koolmann dat beschrifft. Wenn man een utgepuulte
Ültje in twee Delen leggt, dann kickt ut een Deel ´n Mann mit `n Baart rut,
un dat sall ´n Jöd wesen. Versökt dat maal, mit `n bietje „Phantasie“ kann
man dat so sehn.



'Peanuts' arrived, as I guess, not earlier than at the 18th century in
Europe, so I don't believe in any Jewish tradition.



We've got another plant in German called 'Judennuss': *'staphylea pinnata'*,
also known as 'Pimpernuss'.



But what's about Piets suggestion  NL 'uiltje', Engl. 'little owl', DE
'kleine Eule'? Have a look on a peanut (still in its shell). Doesn't remind
it at an owl??
