Folks,

I've attempted to translate the two historical Saxon texts Diederik posted.

I marked as blue what I assume are direct German loans, and purple what I
consider loans that are partly adapted (semi-calques).

Most Honorable Highness, Most Prodigious King, Honorable Highborn Sovereign
of Holstein, most Gracious of Gentlemen, after Your Royal Majesty and
Princely Grace of Holstein came to this good city by the will of God the
Almighty, we, mayor and council, together with the committee of the general
citizenry, avouch being members of the Principality of Holstein and Storman,
and pledge allegiance to You, Honorable Highborn Sovereign of Holstein and
Stormarn, in all appropriate matters as behooves pious subjects to do to
their country’s born sovereign and lord, as have pledged our forebears at
all times. As also we hold on to our privileges, rights and appropriate old
customs and may be permitted to do so. Now that Your Majesty and Highness
most graciously accepted us and confirms, secures and manages our
privileges, rights and appropriate old customs, at the same time likewise
require and defend as established under Your Royal Majesty and Princely
Grace.
