Beste Paul, Hanne, Ron, Marcus, Piet &,

de vraag over de uitspraak van Nederlands *w, v en f* lijkt mij ook een
belangrijke, omdat controversieel uitgelegde te zijn, waar je ook bij het
leren van Nederlands moeilijk een kloppende antwoord op vindt.

Ik heb maar geleert, het Nederlands *w* zou ABN-correct *bilabiaal*, als een
approximant met *beide* lippen gevormd zijn.

Je kunt de Nederlandse 'W' eigenlijk niet als alleenstaand uitspreken. Bij
het opnoemen van het alfabet plaatsen we er gewoonlijk een 'e' achter, dus:

Ja, dat is een goede aanleiding, maar het *w* is anderzijds ook als
"stimhebbend" gelijst b. v. op

 - en anders is mijns inziens de verschil tegenover *v* nauwelijks te vaten.

Het kwam je ook van ouder (Oudsassisch/Germaans) *"hw"* als in *hwo(u)* -
waaruit eng. *how*, Nederlands *hoe*, maar Nederduits *wo(u)*, of *hwar*, *
hwe* enz.}. En, als het binnen lettergrepen staat als in "gewaar" - is het
dan niet ook stimhebbend?

Reinhard verder:

In Dutch, it contrasts with* v*. This is *not* pronounced like English [v]
but is a voiceless version of it: [v̥]. It differs from [f] in that it does
not have any aspiration associated with it.


Zo als ik het weet, is *"v"* in Nederlands ABN-correct *stemhebbend
labiodentaal* ('week'), *f* daarentegen *stemloos en scherp.*

Maar dat is alleen mijn laaggeschoold mening, *voor meer gegronde correcties
door Nederlandstalige LL-genoten zou ik dankbaar zijn!**
