abbreviations for signed languages?

Dear Benjamin,
Thanks for your helpful research.  Actually I have the Ethnologue handy, but 
I was not thinking in terms of Ethnologue codes.  In the Ethnologue the code 
for ASL is ASE, so not all codes are helpful.
I like Shane's idea, as I have actually been using BII on my records here.
