Hello Stefan, Nana and Everyone -
Both of these SignSpellings are correct for the letter J in the  
US...People here sign it differently. The June to the left does the  
movement with the forearm parallel to the floor. The June to the  
right keeps the forearm parallel to the wall...upright...and the  
curve follows the baby finger moving toward the front wall and side  
left...but the arm remains in one place...Think of black paint on  
your baby finger...it is painting a curve in space...

As far as deciding on a standard way of writing it...the one on the  
left is more standard here...but since Nana chose the movement on the  
right, it is ok by me since it describes one style of signing...
