Hello Carlos!
I think you're posting about the LGP fingerspelling is very interesting because we worked really hard on two different versions of that fingerspelling keyboard. The original keyboard for SignWriter DOS looked a certain way. Here is the graphic of the original Portuguese fingerspelling keyboard.

But then it got changed by a group of interpreters from Portugal who worked with Steve in the Fingerspeller program that Steve developed in SignPuddle 2. The Portuguese fingerspelling is different I believe in Fingerspeller, and it does not include any numbers.

Lots of fun, right?

And regarding developing new hand symbols to be added to the current hand symbols in the ISWA 2010, we have so many hundreds that we're going to have to find one that is close to what they are fingerspelling and then someday we can add an addendum of new symbols to the ISWA 2010 that are not a part of Unicode of course. This is all very complex and takes funding because we have thousands and thousands of symbols already and writing can become standardized if we choose to say " this is the way it looks in real life but this is close enough that we can use a symbol that's already there". That would be to their advantage if they could choose that. However we do know that we need to add more symbols it just may take another decade that's all.

So if they would like to form a new committee to try a third version of Portuguese fingerspelling that's perfectly fine with me, and I hope it's fine with the programmers! Thank you for your input.

Carlos - I actually need your help with two books from Brazil that have just been written in SignWriting and they need reviewers. Because I don't know LIBRAS I think it's important that somebody from Brazil works with me on editing their books. I'll write to you privately about it. Thank you so much.

Val ;-)
