Hello everyone, and Suzanne -

Great to hear from you again, Susanne.

And thank you for this message, and for writing and teaching SignWriting and your new development, HoopWriting, which I love.

Do you have files for HoopWriting that I can post on MovementWriting.org <http://movementwriting.org/>? Or did you give those to me already? I am a little poor in memory sometimes but I am pretty sure we have files for your work…

I think we should create a separate area on the internet just for HoopWriting...separate from SportsWriting, that records exactly the way you are teaching and writing HoopWriting. That way your work will be preserved for the future, and people will inform us over time what is best…. and whatever you choose I wholeheartedly accept it and want to show it to the world.

Thank you for your darling animation which you attached….

Writing systems have two issues - 1. standardization so everyone can read each other’s writings, and 2. flexibility and creativity should be possible, so I bet your ideas are fresh and young and need to be acknowleged and used.

Below for example, is the current documentation for the old SportsWriting in Sutton Movement Writing - there are a lot more files for writing skateboarding, and gymnastics and ice skating that I never posted - so you can see we need a section for HoopWriting…but is it a sport? Whatever category we place it in, we need to be able to find it quickly to discuss it…

SportsWriting
https://www.movementwriting.org/sports/index.html
Skateboarding
https://www.movementwriting.org/sports/skateboarding/
Gymnastics
https://www.movementwriting.org/sports/gymnastics/

Ice Skating
https://www.movementwriting.org/sports/iceskating/

So I guess I was seeing HoopWriting as a gesture or movement writing issue that includes the lower body, like in DanceWriting. Of course you are skilled in SignWriting and that is a different focus you are right -

I am starting a series of Internet Archive sections for our large writing system, but I have only just started… but we could make an Internet Archive entry for Pach HoopWriting too ;-)

Tell us what you want to do….

Blessings and thanks for sharing!

Val ;-)

> However, since I am writing the hands in a SignWriting way, to me it feels more natural to write the feet in a "SignWriting" way as well: when I draw the side of the foot I draw a black (outside of foot) or white (inside of foot) rectangle and when I show the foot from the front or behind (like in the attached example) I show a small black/white square.
