Dear Colleagues,
Registration is now open for the third and fourth workshops in the series «AI in Swiss Academic Libraries»:
Workshop 3: Automated Subject Indexing
Friday, 13 November 2026, 9.15 a.m. to 6 p.m.
ETH Zurich, Zentrum Campus
Including welcome coffee and an apéro
Registration is open until 6 November 2026 via the workshop website<https://library.ethz.ch/en/about-us-and-locations/events/workshop-series-ai-in-swiss-academic-libraries/automatic-indexing.html>.
The workshop will be held in English.
Places are limited.
Participation fee: CHF 50.-
The workshop is aimed at professionals from academic libraries, particularly subject librarians, metadata and discovery specialists, as well as colleagues from information science and digital humanities. Together, we will explore how AI-supported approaches can help libraries index their resources, assess the quality of automated subject indexing and improve discovery.
The programme includes keynotes, a community Project Slam with posters and practical examples from libraries in Switzerland and Germany. In the afternoon, participants can choose between a hands-on session on what makes good subject indexing for discovery and a moderated exchange of experiences. Please indicate your preference when registering. The hands-on session is limited to 24 participants.
Workshop 4: Collections as Data and AI
Monday, 23 November 2026, 10.15 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
ETH Zurich, Zentrum Campus
Followed by an apéro
Registration is open until 6 November 2026 via the workshop website<https://library.ethz.ch/en/about-us-and-locations/events/workshop-series-ai-in-swiss-academic-libraries/collections-as-data-and-ai.html>.
The workshop will be held in English.

How can libraries turn historical collections into reusable data, and how is AI changing these practices? This workshop explores how AI can help process and enrich historical collections and enable new forms of access and reuse.
The programme includes a Project Slam, a panel discussion on practices and perspectives, input presentations on collaborations and networks, and hands-on activities and exchange in small groups.
Registration for both workshops is open until 6 November 2026. The registration forms, preliminary programmes and further information are available on the websites for «Automated Subject Indexing<https://library.ethz.ch/en/about-us-and-locations/events/workshop-series-ai-in-swiss-academic-libraries/automatic-indexing.html>» and «Collections as Data and AI<https://library.ethz.ch/en/about-us-and-locations/events/workshop-series-ai-in-swiss-academic-libraries/collections-as-data-and-ai.html>».
We look forward to welcoming colleagues from across Switzerland to ETH Zurich.
If you have any questions about the workshops or the workshop series, please email us at ai at library.ethz.ch<mailto:ai at library.ethz.ch>.
