ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

We are pleased to announce that the 45th International Conference on Sino-Tibetan Languages and Linguistics (ICSTLL45) will be held in Singapore on 26-28 October 2012, hosted by Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

The annual ICSTLL meetings provide an scholarly international forum for the presentation and dissemination of research on Sino-Tibetan languages and linguistics. This will be the first time that the conference will be held in Singapore, sponsored by the Centre for Liberal Arts (CLASS) in collaboration with the Division of Linguistics and Multilingual Studies, Nanyang Technological University.

Conference papers will cover descriptions of phonetics & phonology, morphology, syntax, discourse studies, semantics & pragmatics, language documentation, typology, field reports of recently researched languages, the history of the Sino-Tibetan-speaking region, anthropological studies, and the consequences of contact with languages belonging to other linguistic families.

Pre-conference workshops on Austroasiatic languages, Miao-Yao languages, and using the Sino-Tibetan Etymological Dictionary and Thesaurus (STEDT) will be held at Nanyang Technological University on 25 October, preceding the main sessions of ICSTLL45 on 26-28 October. Scholars interested in participating in either of these workshops should refer to further instructions provided on the 'Pre-conference workshops' page.
