latin "cavallus" in LS. Before I'd sworn, that DE Ross (for EN horse LS
piÃ∞¤rd NL paard) is only DE, i.e. High German, whilst the original Saxon
appellation were "piÃ∞¤rd/peerd/paard".Ã≠Â

The most Saxon, Germanic based appellation for cavallus had been in reality:

'r')

In contrast to the indegous germanic hors/hros appellations - spread all
over the germanic based languages, the piÃ∞¤rd/paard ones are newer and
borrowed from Middel(age) Latin "para-veredus", courier/messenger horse on
byline (para-), and are limited to LS, NL and DE.

Let beside here the many other appellation as guul, hingst, klepper,
mÃ∞¤re, page etc.

My conclusions off that are:

1. 'ors' or better 'hors' and 'ros' are very Saxon based words for cavallus
and at least equivalent to 'piÃ∞¤rd, peert, paart', also for Modern LS
(PlatdÃ∞Ï•Ã∞Ï•dsk) and NL.

[as an aside: my stupid rendering problems have not yet gone away..... ]

Same here pal. For more than one year, these encoding problems have been
going on and nobody cares. 'Cause it's only Apple that is involved...a
minority. A linguistic minority is of course much more important and needs
to be legally protected. I'm truly losing interest because I'm fed up
reading gobbledigook.

Ever noticed it's been very quiet lately?

Luc,

I can understand your frustration. It may *seem *to you as though "nobody
cares," but I can assure you that it does not apply to me.

I have been looking and asking around for solutions, including consulting
people at LINGUIST and people that know a lot about Macs and incompatibility
problems. The fact that until now I have not received a satisfactory
response does not mean that I don't care.

Question: Have you or anyone else using Macs ever consulted the company that
sells your computers? If so, what did they say?
