Workshop, followed by a cocktail party, organized by the Ecrin association
for the launching of

VERS UNE STANDARDISATION EN BIOLOGIE : ENJEUX SCIENTIFIQUES ET ÉCONOMIQUES
(TOWARDS STANDARDIZATION IN BIOLOGY: SCIENTIFIC AND ECONOMIC STAKES)

High throughput biology produces an important amount of data which  must be
compared, exchanged, reused, integrated ... to provide basis of systems
biology.

In order to satisfy this need, several groups propose standard mechanisms and
specifications for the description of various types of biological and medical
experiments.

Pharmaceutical industry has an important role in the design and development
of these standards, together with technology producers and academic teams.

Far from being an obstacle, standardization becomes the unavoidable step; it
is the access card of the interdisciplinarity which opens the way towards
sharing and exploiting knowledges.

VERS UNE STANDARDISATION EN BIOLOGIE : ENJEUX SCIENTIFIQUES ET ÉCONOMIQUES

La biologie à grande échelle produit des masses de données qui doivent être
comparées, échangées, réutilisées, intégrées ... et qui constituent le socle
de la biologie systémique.

Pour répondre à ces besoins, de nombreux groupes proposent des mécanismes et
des spécifications standards pour décrire différents types d'expérimentations
biologiques ou médicales.

L'industrie pharmaceutique joue un rôle très important dans la genèse et le
développement de standards en collaboration avec les producteurs de
technologies et les équipe académiques.

Loin d'être un frein, la standardisation devient le passage obligé ; elle est
le sésame de l'interdisciplinarité qui ouvre la voie au partage et à
l'exploitation des connaissances.
