Call for Book Chapter Proposals: Advocating for Asian and Asian American Communities in Language Education: Perspectives From Students, Families, Educators, Researchers and Allies

Editors: Kevin Wong (Pepperdine University); Zhongfeng Tian (Rutgers University¨CNewark)

Description: This edited volume centers advocacy within dual language bilingual education (DLBE) and community-based heritage language programs in the United States for/with/by Asian and Asian American communities. Foregrounding the importance of heritage language maintenance and culturally sustaining learning environments, the volume considers how advocacy, driven by students, families, educators, administrators, leaders, and community members, supports identity formation, community empowerment, and belonging (Garcia et al., 2012) for populations often overlooked in bilingual education narratives (Wong & Tian, 2022).

Deadline: Chapter proposals due to volume editors: September 30, 2025
