Dear Dr Manfield,
This paper from Danny Hieber may be useful:
Category genesis in Chitimacha: A constructional approach
<https://www.researchgate.net/publication/323559361_Category_genesis_in_Chitimacha_A_constructional_approach>.
In Kristel Van Goethem, Muriel Norde, Evie Coussé, & Gudrun Vanderbauwhede
(eds.), Category change from a constructional perspective (Constructional
Approaches to Language 20), pp. 15–46. John Benjamins. DOI:
10.1075/cal.20.02hie <https://doi.org/10.1075/cal.20.02hie>.

I also did a presentation on the typology and (speculative) diachrony of
adjectival form-classes in Bodish a couple years back at ICSTLL (attached).
It has never quite been developed enough to publish, but I'm hoping it will
still be useful!
Sincerely,
Ryan
